I’ll admit I’m biased towards layered cuts. But for sure it doesn’t take much of a crystal ball to claim layered haircuts for women aren’t apt to go away any time soon. Especially when there are three good reasons which account for their popularity.

One, layered hair cuts suit most any face shape.

Two, layers add volume to your tresses while giving them extra bounce. Leaving you with a classy and trendy look that’s hard to beat.

Three, you have so many interesting styling options. For example you could do your hair in a variety of updos or wear it down. Keep it straight or curled. Your choice.

Now it’s important to understand that layered haircuts help change the way your face looks. Since this is a big advantage let’s look at the how such cuts might affect face shapes.

Just as an example if your face is round you should go for long layers. What this will do is reduce the width of your face. Long layered haircuts have fewer layers too. The first layer usually begins at the shoulder level. On the whole there are at most 3 to 4 layers.

Still, whether or not this is appropriate with your face shape can be discussed with your hair dresser. But for most it can make a huge difference.

Then too, you often have choices in terms of how many layers are cut where. Each changes the look of the style. Sometimes dramatically. Letting you try out different hairstyles to see which gives you the most glamorous new you.

For example you could have your long hair heavily sliced near the ends if your hair is straight. It’ll give your hair bounce. Another option is to have your long layered hair waved or loosely curled for a romantic look. You could make the hair style dramatic by adding highlights to your hair.

Finally layered hair cuts look good with pretty much all types of hair and textures. They enhance straight hair, are superb on wavy hair and help curly hair behave itself. And this is an especially good approach for those with fine hair who need a fuller look with the illusion of volume.

Naturally you can also look at color too. Since highlights can look absolutely gorgeous with a layered look. Going a step further you could experiment with two colors. Using a darker base shade and overlaying the highlights on that. And is there any faster way out of a hair rut?

So yes, you are right. I’m enthusiastic about layered hair. But how can you blame me? If you’ve caught the layered haircut bug too, I’d encourage you to see which of the many choices when it comes to layered cuts might work best for you. Especially if you’re sick and tired of the look you’ve been sporting for too long now.

It’s so predictable. Curly girls often complain about being sick of lifeless, boring curly hair. Yet opting for cute short hair, while appealing, can be a huge change. One that scares us to death. Not to mention such a move requires knowing a stylist that can deliver the look without butchering your hair.

Am I right?

For me cute sounded good after going with a sexy, sultry look for so long. Problem is short curly hair can be quite temperamental, know what I mean?

Curly haircuts. Believe it or not there is really not a lot to say about them. Curly hair is curly hair. Get it cut right and it won’t frizz or wedge out on your into a mushroom shape. Which is sometimes easier said than done however.

As you know there is no one specific style that’s better than another here. But there are a few things to keep in mind.

For one, successful naturally curly haircuts are layered. Especially if you’re wearing it longer. Because lacking layers leads to Christmas tree head. And who wants that?

Shorter cuts, such as a curly bob, can benefit from a few layers as well. As excess volume is cut out as the layers are cut in. Making for more easily managed hair too that doesn’t triangle out on you.

Some claim the bob ix the perfect hair cut for curly hair. It is a cute, lively and easy to take care of. In other words a carefree look that dries fast and doesn’t take lots of care.

Plus if you’ve got a straightening iron that’s up to it, you can alter your look by going with straight hair a couple times a week. Offering you another styling option you may not have considered. Just takes some time and effort to achieve. Oh and don’t over look the heat protectant. That’s one of the products you must use if you like your hair.

On the other hand, cut wrong a curly bob leaves you looking like a walking talking q-tip. With such a cut there will likely not be enough length for other hairstyles like wearing your hear up either. Although you may or may not be able to muster enough hair for some sort of pony tail there’s always headbands!

Whatever you decide regarding these curly hair cutting tips, keep in mind dramatic changes in length may be not best. Short is short and that’s not going to change for you anytime soon. Yet if you take things slow, have some length removed you can try it on for size, more can always be cut off later.

And this much is certainly true. With curly hairstyle ideas, the right cut can take your curls from untamed or boring to absolutely awesome.

Looking for some words of wisdom for living with curly hair? If so you have come to the right place.

Do you need some words of wisdom for dealing with curly hair? If so you’ve come to the right place.

For one, curly hair needs to have layering of some sort in order to eliminate weight and help boost overall volume. Doing so will help it be both better behaved and easier to maintain.

Styling products are most often best applied when your strands are damp. Working in the conditioner using a wide tooth comb. But once it’s dry leave it alone. That’s right, keep your hands away from your hair. If it helps just remember FOCF. Fiddling Only Creates Frizz!

Curls verses Frizz Defined: Loosely speaking 10 strands of hair in harmony results in a curl. 10 going in 10 directions is frizz.

I liked this one. Show don’t tell when trying to communicate what you want from your stylist. As they say a picture is worth 1000 words. Sure you already know this. But you’d be surprised how many cheerfully ignore these words of wisdom.

Usually it’s best to get your curls cut dry. Because the person with the scissors in their hand can see exactly how they stack up. Making the appropriate cuts obvious. The risk when cutting wet is too much is cut off because the curls shrink more than expected. And then what?

Ever tried shoulder length locks? This length flatters all face shapes and works with curly hair because curls need length to stay in control. Just be careful if you go shorter than that or you risk poofiness. The only exception might be a curly bob?

Moisturizing conditioning is important. Because curly hair is dry to begin with and tends to break easily as a result. Guess you could say much like cats crave catnip your curly locks crave moisture. So when you get right down to it, your hair can’t help but benefit from regular conditioning.

I’ve never smart to brush curly hair.

Avoid shampooing a lot. If need be just spritz your hair to revive it and get the curls to spring back to life the second day. Even if you’re shampooing less however you should still be conditioning regularly.

Remember that in the end curls just want to frolic and have fun. But you have to set the boundaries of that fun. Following these tips for creating gorgeous, curly is a good way to start to do so.

Does the texture of your hair hold you back from more stylish cuts? Feel trapped in a hair style rut? Is your hair begging for a change? Then perhaps one of the trendy layered cuts you see on magazine covers so often is for you?

Here’s some points to remember about layering.

Subtle layering can enhance most any cut by adding seductive movement and volume to your hair.

It’s possible to frame your face to set it off by having your stylist add layers into the hair around it.

As you’d expect how much and what kind of layering you need depends on your hair type. Curls call for longer layers to give balance and remove heft. Fine hair can stand layers that create the look of fullness. Blunt and choppy works well with straight hair.

BE WARNED: For those with hair that is thinning, you’re better off avoiding excessive layering. Sure you’re right to argue this is a styling technique used to add volume. Problem is it can’t make up for what is not there to begin with. In that case, you’ll only accentuate the problem by thinning your hair more.

So much for some layering basics. Now for some fuss-free layered styles.

Shoulder length with long, graduated layers cut in all over gives you a polished look that works with most any texture.

While the trademark of a thoroughly modern shag is longer, angled layers cut in all over you head. Result? Maximum movement and versatility.

The lob or long bob is one of the more popular and flattering mid-length styles that offers both easy styling and maximum versatility.

With longer hair you’re looking for medium to long layers. Such a look works great with pretty much any hair type from wavy to straight, thick or fine and thin too.

A choppy bob is a good layered look if you’re looking for something that will require less time each morning. Perfect for fine straight hair, this sophisticated super short style brings out the beauty of your eyes too.

Adding layers to your hair is an easy way to build in major sex appeal in just seconds. They can truly make the difference between a cut that is just okay to one that is great and glamorous looking. So why not consider layers the next time you’re seated in your hairdresser’s chair?

It’s so predictable. Curly girls often complain about being sick of lifeless, boring curly hair. Yet opting for cute short hair, while appealing, can be a huge change. One that scares us to death. Not to mention such a move requires knowing a stylist that can deliver the look without butchering your hair.

Understandable dilemma.

For me cute sounded good after going with a sexy, sultry look for so long. Problem is short curly hair can be quite temperamental, know what I mean?

Other than that, there’s not really a lot to say about curly haircuts. Curly hair is curly hair. What can I say? It simply needs to be cut right so it lays right and behaves itself.

And while there is no particular style to go with there are a few things you can’t lose sight of.

For example, the best naturally curly haircuts are layered. This is especially true if the style is longer. That’s because Christmas tree head awaits cuts without layers. And who needs that?

As a general rule you want layers for shorter cuts too. Like the curly bob for example. Doing so takes out hair you could call extra and in the process gives you hair that is easier to manage.

Yet you may be mistaken for a walking cotton swab if your curly bob is cut wrong. Plus your curly locks may be too short for up hairstyles. And a pony tail may be problematic too. But headbands can still fill in nicely.

However you take these curly hair cutting tips, just don’t go too drastic when it comes to changes. Once your hair is cut short it’s short. Nothing can be done to change that anytime soon. But if you go easy with the scissors, the length can always be shortened more later.

And this much is certainly true. With curly hairstyle ideas, the right cut can take your curls from untamed or boring to absolutely awesome.
